GaGa Ball Pit Dimensions & How to Build One

GaGa Ball Pit Dimensions & How to Build One

GaGa Ball has taken playgrounds, camps, parks, and youth centers by storm, and for good reason.
The game is fast, exciting, and inclusive. Kids and adults of all skill levels can jump in, laugh,
and create lasting memories together. But before the fun begins, there is one essential piece you need:
the GaGa Ball pit itself.

Here is where many leaders run into a challenge. Building a pit can feel intimidating. Other kits and DIY methods
often leave you guessing about measurements, cutting boards, or how to safely secure the structure. The process
can quickly become overwhelming. At Coach Cliff’s GaGa Ball Pits, we have taken care of all those details for you. Our bracket systems
and accessories are engineered to make the process simple, straightforward, and frustration-free. No complicated cuts.
No confusing instructions. Just a clear path from start to finish, so you spend less time building and more time playing. In this guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about GaGa Ball pit dimensions, how to choose the right
size for your space, and how to assemble your pit with confidence using our high-quality brackets and accessories.

What is GaGa Ball?

GaGa Ball is often described as a gentler version of dodgeball. The game is played inside an enclosed pit, where players
use an open hand to tag the ball, aiming to make contact with opponents below the knee. If the ball touches you below
the knee, you are out. The last player left in the pit is the winner.

The ball itself is lightweight, usually an 8 to 10-inch vinyl or inflatable ball that stays low to the ground. Because
the ball moves quickly without being heavy or intimidating, players of all ages and abilities can jump right in. That mix
of safety, speed, and inclusivity is what makes GaGa Ball so popular in schools, camps, religious organizations, and
community centers. It is a fun way to encourage active play, build teamwork, and create an environment where everyone
feels welcome.

What Are the Standard GaGa Ball Pit Dimensions?

GaGa Ball pits come in a few standard shapes and sizes. While pits can be customized to fit nearly any space, here are
the most common configurations:

Hexagon – 6 Walls

Using 8-foot boards, you will get a pit measuring
approximately 14.5 feet wall to wall. Using 10-foot
boards, the pit measures around 18 feet wall to wall.

Octagon – 8 Walls

Using 8-foot boards, the pit measures about
20 feet wall to wall. Using 10-foot boards,
the pit measures approximately 25 feet wall to wall.

For wall height, 30 inches is the most common choice. It keeps the game contained while still allowing easy entry and exit.
Some groups choose 24 inches for younger or smaller players, while extreme GaGa Ball enthusiasts sometimes build pits
with 44-inch walls (Octagon shape only) for an arena-like experience.

These dimensions provide plenty of space for fast, fun play while ensuring the pit remains manageable for supervision and maintenance.

Choosing the Right GaGa Ball Pit Size for Your Space

Before you purchase a GaGa Ball pit, it is important to think about who will be playing and where the pit will be installed.
Bigger is not always better, especially if your players are younger or smaller. A pit that is too large can slow down the
action and make the game less engaging.

At Coach Cliff’s GaGa Ball Pits, we do not size our models in feet like some competitors do. Instead, our pits are categorized
by wall height: 24H, 30H, and 44H. From there, you choose your preferred wall length to create the diameter that best fits your group.

Here are a few recommendations to guide your decision:

What Are the Standard GaGa Ball Pit Dimensions?

GaGa Ball pits come in a few standard shapes and sizes. While pits can be customized to fit nearly any space, here are
the most common configurations:

For younger players or mixed-age groups

We recommend Octagons with 8-foot walls at the 30H
height. This keeps the game fast-paced and fun.
If you expect larger groups of younger players, consider
purchasing two Octagons with 8-foot walls instead of
one oversized pit. This allows for more competitive
play and keeps everyone engaged.

For tight spaces or limited budgets

If a full Octagon does not fit your site, you can use shorter
wall lengths to build a smaller Octagon. Another great option
is the Hexagon 30H with 8-foot walls, which provides a 15-foot
diameter and still delivers a true GaGa Ball experience.

For players using wheelchairs or walkers

A pit built with 10-foot wall lengths on an Octagon
(available at 30H or 44H height) makes the space more
accessible and ensures everyone can participate comfortably

For camps, youth centers, or schools with older players (13+)

A 10-foot wall length on an Octagon at the 30H height
gives extra space for mobility and makes the game
better suited for larger kids and teens.

The key is finding the right balance for your players. A well-sized pit ensures that the game stays fast, exciting,
and inclusive for everyone involved.

How to Build a GaGa Ball Pit: Step-by-Step

Building a GaGa Ball pit with Coach Cliff’s system is quick and simple. We have taken the guesswork out of the process,
so you can go from unboxing to game-ready in just a short time.

  1. After purchasing your lumber or wall materials, check that your board lengths are consistent. Use the provided template to mark hole positions. (If your board lengths vary, see our instructions or video for easy adjustments. No cutting required.)
  2. Countersink holes and drill according to the markings.
  3. Attach boards to brackets using the washers, bolts, and acorn nuts included in your kit.
  4. Tighten all bolts securely. Check for sharp edges or splinters and smooth them down if necessary.
  5. (Optional) Install cut-out openings. All 30H and 44H models include a cut-out template and instructions. We recommend adding one or two cut-outs, especially if you are installing an ADA kit. A template for 24H models is available upon request.
  6. Install any additional accessories, such as Flooring, Wall Top Covers, ADA kits, or the Metal Game Rules sign.

That’s it! Your GaGa Ball pit is ready for play! Coach Cliff’s bracket system is designed to make assembly beyond easy,
so you spend less time building and more time enjoying the game.
